“Renaissance art is the painting, sculpture and decorative arts of European history known as “The Renaissance Period” originating in the 1400’s. The renaissance period is amazing for its energy and strides forward in art and music. Leonardo da Vinci is one of the many artists who epitomizes this period and the meaning of “Renaissance”.
Renaissance Femme…
I asked my husband one evening in our studio …”if you could come up with a name for my new site, what would that be”? Without hesitation, he said, “Renaissance Femme”.
He reminded me that the renaissance artist is a practitioner of a least three disciplines. He said, you are an artist, vocalist and a multi media designer – hence… ren-femme.
Whenever we arrive at the end of a musical performance or a stage production, we experience what we’d call a, “post gig wind-down”. We’re tired, happy and sad all at the same time. It’s at these times that I’ve turned to my visual art side continuing to paint, often addressing portrait commissions that I’ve had to put on hold during musical productions.
Sometimes I find myself experiencing another’s piece of art often in the wee hours of the morning in a hotel room as I stare at the art on the walls. Sometimes I see movement within the piece; hear music, recognize interpretations and statements. I felt I could expand on this – hence – “Hotel Art” – the visual expressions conveyed through different medias, moods and techniques creating a consistent statement through which Hotel owners can enhance the character of their Hotel . What better place to express and reinforce this than within the establishment?
My husband and I have played background music for Art Shows at various galleries, relaxing the patrons and, hopefully, contributing to their visual experience. I enjoy offering that added element to an art show. Singing in bars, private clubs, wineries’, stage productions and many many fund raising events … it’s one of my favourite places to be. Playing music with my amazing talented husband and beautiful daughter (when she is available) – well – it just doesn’t’ get better. Giving and providing that musical element of escapism in music is magic. It’s easy – you just let the music sing itself.
